Peace Like a River

Well, the Great Organizing Principle, the Universe, the Man (or Woman) in the Sky, has evened things out again, and while I'm never thrilled about getting kicked in the teeth, at least I'm not waiting any more for the other shoe to drop. (I know, I know, nice cliches.)

Seriously, we have the contest results. We didn't win. We came in second. All very nice, but still second. And the kicker? The winner is from a nearby suburb. A national freaking contest and the winner has to live next door. BEAUTIFUL TWIST! Gotta say, I didn't see THAT one coming.

I also gotta say, it's really, really funny. And as big a deal as all of it seemed just a week ago, I'm okay. No, really okay. Surprisingly okay. Granted, I get a little freaked out when I start wondering what the hell we're going to do next trying to get the book sold, but that's nothing new.

The only thing I regret is that it seems nothing's changed. I mean, for all the work and worry, we don't seem to be any farther ahead than we were 3 months ago. But who knows, there's probably a lesson in there somewhere. I'll let you know when I figure it out.

In the meantime, don't cry for me (Argentina). It's all good.
