Sometimes You've Got to Give Back
Jeepers, where the hell did the month go? I used to think grown-ups were nuts belaboring the swiftness of the days, but now I see what they were bitching about. That might actually mean I'm -- gasp -- a grown-up.
Another fact of being grown-up: shit happens. Like to this woman who was only a class year behind me in college. I didn't know her, but she looks like a nice person who's dealing with some seriously bad news.
From the Ithacan:
Jeannine Walston (1995, School of H&S) writes, "After being tumor free for a few years, I'm now dealing with a brain tumor recurrence. Because surgery and radiation pose serious risks to my mental functions, and chemotherapy has very limited efficacy for my condition, I need to pursue other treatments. The most promising treatments I've uncovered after extensive research are available in Germany. I plan on receiving immunotherapy treatments at the Medical Center of Cologne beginning in May of 2006. I need approximately $70,000 to cover the costs of the six-month treatment plan and additional funds for ongoing immune therapy support. Given the total sum necessary, I'm humbly raising funds to support my medical care. For more information about how to donate, go to http://www.healingfocus.org/Fundraising.htm."
