Nature Lovers

All right, I admit it -- I'm not exactly a lover of nature. I'm not a hiker or a jogger, I have no desire to climb rocks or feel the wind shushing against my face while downhill skiing.

Give me a climate-controlled building with lots of nooks and crannies to explore; give me a fireplace and a good book.

But while I have been known to exclaim "Pave it all!" in reference to the great outdoors, that doesn't mean I don't have some small appreciation for things that grow. Hence the picture above of what I have recently decided is my favorite flower: alstroemeria.

Also known as a Peruvian lily or Lily of the Incas, for whatever reasons, this flower has captured my fancy. And if you believe the wide variety of meanings associated with flowers,

Alstroemeria suit my needs: wealth, prosperity, fortune, aspiration;

also, devotion, a powerful bond with another.

I could get into that. I might even manage a nature walk for that kind of message.

But I'll always prefer love and other indoor sports.
